A practical guide for the adults who lead NuvoYTH middle school and high school students — seventeen short chapters on showing up, asking better questions, and knowing your few.

This book expands the NuvoYTH Small Group Leader Training outline into a practical guide for the adults who lead our middle school and high school students. Read it to understand the heart of the role, then keep it close for the moments when the room gets quiet, the conversation gets messy, or a student says something you weren't expecting.
The five foundational practices in the opening chapters come from the Lead Small framework associated with Orange and the book Lead Small by Reggie Joiner and Tom Shefchunas. This handbook preserves the language of our supplied training outline and expands its application for NuvoYTH. It is a local training resource, not an Orange publication. The sample conversations throughout are illustrative, not accounts of actual students.
Use the guidance on student safety alongside Nuvo's current safeguarding procedures and required training. Before leading, know how to reach the ministry leader on duty and how to make an urgent safety report. This book does not replace those procedures or any personal legal duty to report.
